Ending the Silence for Families

  • May 06, 2021

Did you know that the 2018-2019 Georgia Department of Education Student Health Survey  of 6th through 12th-grade students revealed 11% (77,881) have seriously considered attempting suicide, and 6% (37,508 students) have attempted suicide?

On Thursday, May 6, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, ICM is hosting an important discussion on ending the silence of mental health for families. This one-hour presentation by the National Alliance on Mental Illness is for adults with middle or high school aged youth that includes warning signs, facts and statistics, how to talk with your child and how to work with school staff.

This presentation includes two leaders: one who shares an informative presentation and a young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery. Audience members can ask questions and gain understanding of an often-misunderstood topic. Through dialogue, we can help grow the movement to end stigma.
